Road protection

In the field of road safety, certification of devices plays a crucial role in safeguarding both road users and infrastructure. In particular, safety barriers are important as they provide effective protection against accidents and vehicular collisions, while acoustic barriers help to reduce the level of noise nuisance from road traffic.

EN 1317 regulation provides detailed standards for the conformity assessment of devices such as safety barriers, impact mitigators, terminals, transition elements, vehicle/pedestrian railings.

On the other hand, the standard EN 1793 covers road noise mitigation devices. This regulation specifies performance requirements by setting detailed standards for their design, manufacture and installation. The objective is to guarantee its effectiveness in reducing the level of noise perceived near roads and thus contribute to improving the quality of life of people who live or work near areas with high traffic density.

All road safety barriers, from guardrails to Integer and SoundIntegra, are tested and certified according to the European standard EN 1317.

Specifically SoundIntegra has successfully passed the tests established by the EN 1317 standard for the H4b class, with a W5 operating width and an ASI B severity index, ensuring a high level of safety and performance.

Integer combines acoustic performance and impact resistance in compliance with both EN 1793 and EN 1317 regulations.

Event security

KEE is a team of event security and specific risk mitigation HVM (Hostile Vehicle Mitigation) specialists. For this reason, all devices designed to contain the risks arising from vehicles out of control or used as a weapon, as well as those used in the field of perimeter safety, are equipped with certifications attesting their reliability and compliance with regulations.

Event protection devices meet three globally recognised standards for VSB vehicle safety barriers: ISO Workshop Agreement IWA 14-1, PAS 68 and ASTM F2656.

Published by independent standardisation bodies at different times, they provide similar arrangements for determining the performance of a VSB by real-scale crash tests: a compliant product is characterised by the mass of the vehicle under test, from the speed and angle of impact, the depth of penetration of the vehicle and the debris inside the protected area behind the VSB.

Specifically, the ISO Workshop Agreement IWA 14-1 was developed specifically to cover and include the directives of both the British standard PAS 68 and the American standard ASTM F2656. Therefore, test results and performance evaluations of the three standards are to some extent comparable.
